Thomas Frederick Mary Ann Read |
Thomas Frederick was born on 17 December 1865 at 59 Gee Street, London, and christened on 26 October 1868 at St Thomas Charterhouse, Finsbury. Thomas moved with his parents c.1881 to 9 Gee Street. At the time he wasn’t working. Mary Ann was living at 52 Gee Street with her parents John and Sarah. At the age of 16 Mary worked in ‘Flowers’ (probably a Florist). When they were both aged 20 they married at St Barnabus Church, Holborn, on 25 December 1885. At this time Thomas had started work as a ‘Pudler’ and Mary was working as a ‘Saddle & Harness maker’. The marriage was witnessed by George Henry, Thomas’ father and Frances Fanny Read, Mary’s sister. They moved to 14 Gee Street where he began work in a ‘Warehouse factory’, finally becoming a ‘Lead & Glass packer’ at George Farmiloe & Sons in 1900. Thomas died at the age of 65 on 17 June 1935. Mary Ann continued to live at 14 Gee Street until 1940 when the house was condemned. She moved to flats at Angel End, off Pentonville Road where she remained until she died in 1942. |
